After an eight year wait, Metallica have finally released their new album, Hardwired…to Self-Destruct and it’s a dark, musically intense journey that’s full of abrupt rhythm shifts, thrashy riffs and infectious hooks. But really, it’s not like Metallica have been sitting around for eight years since they put out Death Magnetic in 2008.
The band collaborated with Lou Reed on the provocative and polarizing album Lulu, released the conceptual 3D concept film Through the Never, organized their own festival and played lots of shows. Still, fans that have been waiting with teeth clenched to see if Hardwired would match the majestic grandeur of Death Magnetic finally have their answer.
The double-disc is just under 80 minutes long and was produced by Greg Fidelman, who engineered and mixed Death Magnetic.
