This year’s Austin City Limits Festival features a diverse lineup that includes Eminem, Pearl Jam, OutKast, Skrillex, Beck and Calvin Harris.
Pearl Jam finally hit the stage at ‘Late Night with Jimmy Fallon’ to celebrate the week named in their honor.
It’s Pearl Jam week on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and for its inaugural night the audience was treated to a performance of Pearl Jam’s “Footsteps” sung by Chris Cornell.
Maybe they’re happy with their new ‘Lightning Bolt’ album and how it’s been received. Or perhaps it’s just gratitude that they’ve attained the rare status of a band who can sell out multiple nights at a New York-area arena.
‘Vs.’ set records in the week and a half it took to sell 1.3 million copies in October 1993, and coupled with Nirvana’s feminist-minded In Utero a month earlier, it was the moment where the bands overlapped most in popularity and political-mindedness.
Music from Pearl Jam’s entire catalog will be featured during the potentially seven-game series, save the heavily political 2002 full-length, ‘Riot Act.’
“I get so angry that I almost wish bad things upon these people,” the Pearl Jam singer seethed. “But I don’t have to because it seems like they happen anyways.”
