Beck has spent the last few years covering other people’s songs, including David Bowie and Yanni, but with his new single, “Blue Moon,” he proves he’s not so bad at doing his own thing.
The soundtrack will also include songs from Lily Allen, Christina Perri.
Beck delivers a torpid and melancholy cover of the John Lennon classic.
You won’t be seeing this compilation on the rack next to the breath mints and Madeleine cookies for a few months now, but when you do see it at the front of Starbucks, it’ll be pretty enticing.
The overall sound is lush and engrossing, an ideal soundtrack to Beck’s tales of “getting through that long, dark night of the soul – whatever you want to call it.”
After five years of various one-off gigs, large-scale composition projects, covering entire Yanni albums, and writing albums out on sheets of paper, the Beck is back.
Beck is gearing up to premiere songs from an upcoming acoustic album during a handful of recently announced concerts this summer. According to a press release, Beck will perform “special acoustic sets with minimal accompaniment” […]
